SUMMARY:Henry McMinn Foundation Ride Day
DESCRIPTION:SORRY, REGISTRATIONS HAVE CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT\nA little bit of information about Henry\nHenry was a kid with such an old soul, full of love and passion for life. He was so strong after being diagnosed with Leukaemia in Nov 2022. Henry took it head-on and inspired us all with his strength and positivity. Sadly, on 29 April 2023, the family unexpectedly had to say their final goodbye to Henry. It wasn’t the cancer that took their boy from them. It was the treatment that he had to have which unfortunately left him with no chance to fight.\nThe McMinn family where one of the founding members of the Otway Enduro Club, the loss of Henry and the hurt the family felt was close to home for many of our members. In early 2023 before Henry passed, a weekend of motorbike riding was held for Henry to help raise funds for his fight. Henry was at the ride both days and loved seeing all the motorbikes, he even made a quick thank you speech which left many with a tear in their eye.\nThe 2024 ride will be held for many reasons, but the overarching joy Henry experienced with the 2023 ride is a driving factor. Henry’s parents Scott and Naomi want to honour Henry and his love of motorbikes. A foundation called The Henry McMinn Foundation is in its early stages but the objective of this foundation is to help other country families who need to spend extended periods of time in Melbourne while their child receives treatment. Accommodation is not cheap and the last thing a family should be worried about when a loved one is fighting for their life, is the cost of accommodation.\nMarch 3 – The Event\nThe date March 3 was chosen because it is close to Henry’s February 29 birth date. Yes that’s correct, Henry was born on a leap year, so technically he would’ve turned 2 this year. The day will include fun for both adults and children and keep in mind this day is not just for motorbike riders. You are more than welcome to come along, bring some chairs and relax. A junior track will be set up for children aged 5 and above to rider their motorbike. There will be a coffee and beverage van on site, a BBQ lunch with salad is supplied for everyone who turns up. You’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks, please be mindful to take home any rubbish with you.\nMaisy Doats face painting will be there for the children, some music and of course the motorbike riding. This will all be held on the McMinn family farm. A small fee for each junior rider will cover the insurance required for them to ride at the event.\nA motorbike ride will also be held for the adults., this will begin from the McMinn Farm, the adult ride fee will be by donation towards the Henry McMinn Foundation. The donation can be as big or as small as you want.\nIn Honour of Henry\nA smoking ceremony will be held on the day at 9:30am. this will be within a circle of honour the motorbikes will create much like what the surfers do to honour the passing of a loved one. It will help if all riders can get ready as soon as they arrive, we want you all to be part of the circle on your bikes by 9.30am to get a drone photo.\nDay Details:\nGates Open: 9am\nChildren Ride Cost: $25.00\nSenior Ride Cost: donation made when registering\nSmoking Ceremony and circle of honour: 9:30am (all riders on their bikes )\nJunior Riding: from 10am to when the senior riders return (approximately 2 to 3pm)\nAdult Ride: Leaving approximately 11.30am\nLunch: BBQ lunch provided (coffee and beverages available to be purchased on site)\nEvent will conclude around 4 to 4.30pm. Please note: The local Gellibrand pub and general store will be open for those wanting to grab a feed other than what is provided for in the BBQ lunch.\nMore Information about the event\nPlease contact either Scott 0407 778 067 or Naomi 0410 409 707.\nRegistrations Close: February Thursday 29th 12 noon.\n
