Since 2018 the Otway Enduro Club has developed a reputation for running Pony Express races which are a step up in the difficulty level. Because of this we have decided to change the name of our “Pony Express” to the “Mule Express”. Why? The word Mule does have a few meanings but in our context a mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. Generally speaking a mule has inherit strength and stamina, but can also be used to describe a tough challenge.

The track for this Mule Express is going to be similar to our previous Pony Express tracks but with more overtaking lines. The track will also incorporate some tight single track through native forest and gum plantations.  As usual we’ll have a few man made obstructions placed at strategic spots to keep things interesting. The track will also contain an assortment of Rooster and Chicken lines, with a distinct advantage for the rider that decides to ride and nail the Rooster line.

This is an AMA Sanctioned Event, therefore you will require an AMA Membership to race. You can purchase an AMA membership by clicking on the orange button towards the bottom of this page.

Cost:

Seniors $100 Ironman   |   Senior Team: $200  |  Juniors $50 per rider

Classes:

There will be prizes for first, second and third for each class.

Junior: (1.5 hour event) There are two Junior Classes.

• Class 1 (65 to 85cc 2-stroke & up to 150cc 4-stroke)
• Class 2 (86 to 200cc 2-stroke & 151 to 250cc 4-stroke)

Please note: The minimum age of the riders is 7 years old and the minimum engine size is 65cc. Junior riders will be riding a condensed version of the seniors track. Both junior classes will race together with the bigger bikes to head off first, the Junior race includes both boys and girls. You must be aged 7 to 15 years in order to be eligible to ride in the Junior race. If you are 16 then you must ride in the Senior Race.

Seniors: (4 hour event) Teams of two with combined ages and Iron Man event

• Up to 49 year old (combined age both riders)
• 50 to 79 year old (combined age both riders)
• over 80 years old (combined age both riders)
• Iron Man

Information:

Must be an Otway Enduro Club member to race, day membership $20, yearly membership $50 to become a yearly member before the event please visit our Membership Page where you can fill out and pay for your membership and get a membership number, you’ll need to add this to the online entry form.

• One day Otway Enduro Club memberships are available.
• AMA Membership required for this event.
• Racing numbers will be supplied on the day.
• Catering available on the day.
• Onsite camping permitted $20 per person (accommodation is also available in surrounding areas)
• No dogs allowed.
• No noisy bikes, a sound meter will be testing.
• Each bike will need to pass scrutineering.

Senior races are a team of two riders either sharing one bike or riding a bike each or you can compete by yourself as an ironman.

Accommodation:

Camping on location for competitors will be allowed if our camping permit is approved and weather permitting, we’ll have limited spaces so you will require to send us your intention to camp.
